People’s differences of opinions regarding traditions and modernization lead to a conflict and there are ongoing disputes among societies, therefore, it is perceived that it is cardinal to prohibit some traditional and cultural activities. To my mind, it is not apropos to completely ignore them despite some minor risks associated with their adaptation.
In order to favor the traditions, it is suitable to comment that traditional activities empower people with a sense of comfort and belongings as they are requisite to connect with families and friends. It is conspicuous that customs are required in the society to establish a connection between past and present by which people can organize/flourish their future. It is certain that without having roots in the past folks cannot generate a sense of creativity. To further discern the constructive side of traditions it is apparent that these practices reinforce values namely freedom, faith, and integrity hence traditional activities are an omnipotent tool for society.
The inimical side of following traditions is persisted. It is undeniable that to evolve constantly and meet the changing requirements of times and social context some traditions need to be forbidden. Some demographics of social tradition and culture bring discrimination by which rights are buried under a mound of cultural relativism. For instance, in some regions, customary laws discriminate against women when it comes to property ownership and inheritance. Sometimes traditions are a reason for the climate of political uncertainty where some social groups are particularly targeted for the moral panics.
After agglomeration of the elaborated points, it is concluded that although some traditions and customs are abominable if handled judiciously can be a great asset to society.
